Mountain View Cosmetic Dentist Introduces Newest CEREC Technology for Faster and More Comfortable Restoration

Mountain View, California (April 29, 2014) – Renowned Mountain View cosmetic dentist Dr. Patrick F. McEvoy has introduced the CEREC Omnicam, a revolutionary scanning tool that renders 3D images of the teeth in stunning detail. This breakthrough scanner enables Dr. McEvoy to treat and restore  patient's teeth with just one visit, without needing to take impressions.

Constantly in search of ways to enrich his patients’ experience, Dr. Patrick F. McEvoy seeks out the newest, state-of-the-art technologies and techniques to improve the way he and his team care for their patients. With the new Omnicam scanner, he can make and fit a crown in one visit, a far more convenient and comfortable option for patients and their families.

CEREC uses 3D photography and CAD/CAM technology to assist in designing the patient’s restoration without taking impressions,” explains Dr. McEvoy. “When combined with a milling unit, it is able to build the actual restoration in a relatively short space of time. It allows me to make very precise impressions that fit perfectly, are very long-lasting, and look excellent.”

The Omnicam scans the patient's upper and lower jaws with its compact camera tip, and renders realistic 3D virtual models in full color. The precise images enable Dr. McEvoy to investigate the oral cavity more efficiently and allow him to distinguish different materials that may be present inside the mouth. Furthermore, he can show his patients video clips of their mouth projections during counseling. Through the realistic visualizations, he can help patients get a clearer understanding of their condition and the rationale for the recommended treatments.

After the patient’s approval of the proposed procedures, Dr. McEvoy designs the restoration through the CEREC 3D Computer Assisted Design software which transfers the design to a ceramic block placed inside a milling chamber that sculpts and shapes the crown, inlay or other restoration. The patient receives the restoration within the same day, eliminating the need for temporary crowns and repeated visits.

In addition to the most advanced CEREC solutions, Dr. McEvoy’s clinic also features computerized anesthesia that administers pain-free injections, digital x-rays that record the entire jaw structure for less exposure, and 3D x-rays that show jaw and teeth accurately.
